I just bought a Black Labrador and i was wondering can anyone give me tips on how to take care of a Labrador? Also can you suggest a good name for a male black labrador. You could suggest a website where i can get comprehensive information regarding the care of labradors. Thanks!
Congrats, daddy! How old is your pup?
I have a Black Lab too. Her name is Dodger..10 months old, 75 pounds. She chews on EVERYTHING, loves to dig, dig, dig holes in the yard, and LOVES to play ball! Labs are very spunky, loyal, lovable dogs, who love to run and fetch.
If yours is a young pup, you need to be wary of him jumping off of anything higher than his own height for a few months, at least. Labs are prone to hip dysplasia, which can be debilitating and painful for them. Mine has slight dysplasia, but we control it with medication. Her doctor thinks it’s due in part to the fact that she basically gained 70 pounds in a few months. (She was 5 at birth.)
As far as names go, personally, I like giving my pets ‘human names.’ Jack, Max, Samson, Pete, are all cute boy names.
