Labrador Breeders in Montana

Expert AuthorLooking for a Labrador breeder can be a challenging task. Certainly, there are many Labrador breeders around, but is there one in your state? If so, is there a reputable Labrador breeder in your state?

Montana is one of those states that attract Labrador breeders, possibly due to the popularity of bird hunting. Some breeders advertise their dogs as “started and finished gun dogs’ or “champion hunting” dogs. It has its fair share, though, of Labrador breeders who raise “family dogs” or “show dogs”.

You may want to begin with the 5 Montana Labrador breeders listed alphabetically below. We offer basic information, but do not recommend any particular breeder. That is up to you. Be sure you do your homework.

Double Eagle

Double Eagle is a family-oriented Labrador breeder - breeding as a hobby. They strive to breed sound, healthy Labs for show and hunting, but their main goals are puppies that are genetically great, healthy, and of good temperament.

Jazztime Labradors

Located in Charlo, a small town in Montana’s Mission Mountains, this Labrador breeder’s main focus is training for and running retriever field trials. They are quick to point out, however, that they run their dogs in the NAHRA hunt tests and APLA pointing events. Their dogs are hunted in the fall.

Jazztime Labradors’ owners state specifically that they are careful to have hips, elbows, and eyes certified in all breeding dogs.

Moonstone Labradors

This Labrador breeder, located in Bigfork, Montana, on 17 acres in the Swan
Mountains, has been training and handling Labradors on an amateur basis since 1992, breeding top quality Labs ever since.

When asked, the McKnights say, “Our focus is breeding from the most excellent field trial lines in the history of the sport with the goals of enhancing the Labrador breed and producing sound, healthy field trial quality puppies.”

Rosebank Farm

If you are looking for English Labradors, you may want to contact this Labrador breeder in Kalispell, Montana - gateway to Glacier National Park. Linda Ravicher, owner of Rosebank, moved here from England in 1997, bringing 3 purebred English Labs with her. She now has 9 yellow Labs, all of which are house dogs. She rears all puppies in the home, with a goal of rearing great, well-socialized companion dogs.

Sleeping Giant Labradors

This may be your choice of Labrador breeders in Montana if you want a companion Labrador with “excellent retrieving/hunting instincts’. Sleeping Giant Kennel is located near Helena, Montana’s capital.

The Labrador breeders at Sleeping Giant say their goal is to achieve dogs that show close adherence to the established Labrador breed standard, with gentle temperaments. They work to raise puppies that are “athletic and sound, intelligent and easy to train”, with retrieving/hunting instincts.

These are only a sampling of the many Labrador breeders in Montana. If they do not have the puppy you want, they can probably direct you to someone who does.
